Explain to me exactly what was “settled in a bipartisan manner”. Dems retain the filibuster, by the simple caveat of calling any judicial nominee “extreme”, Repubs show themselves incapable of taking advantage of a 55-44 majority over the Dems, Dems get to claim the “moral high ground”, McCain undercuts the President…

I could go on, but the only thing else I need to say is: cloture vote on Bolton (admittedly not a “judicial” nominee, but still…): it’s filibuster time all over again.

I don't have a blog but would willingly join the ranks of the chllin', even if it is only from the view of a commenter.

The peanut is moving forward (on nominations) and I don't see how the Republicans have sacrificed anything, really, in the process other than the speculation that two of the nominees will be dumped.

Compromise can be good - but you have to allow it to be so first.

Jeff, it’s tempting to recant after Bolton…but as you admit yourself, it’s a whole ‘nother issue. Bolton would have happened either way.

To me, the bottom line is I don’t want another 1998, where the Republicans overreached and alienated the electorate…
