As a citizen, I doubt Blair can deport him (to where?). The only option is probably treason. I don’t know the standard of proof in the UK but it is pretty high here.

As was said most eloquently earlier: he is a despicable man who supports those that murder civilians, are racist, misogynist, and homophobic.

As anyone who watched Galloway’s testimony to congress not long ago regarding the oil-for-food scandal knows, while his opinions are reprehensible his command of the language is nonpareil; he is not to be confronted unprepared. Sen. Norm Coleman unfortunately got both barrels for his lack of preparation. This and that Galloway is an elected official are why I think he transcends pain-in-the-neck status and can be reasonable thought of as a dangerous fellow. But what to do?

There has been some speculation recently as to what his fate will be now that Tony Blair has come out strongly in favor of legally cracking down on those who encourage or apologize for terrorists and their rhetoric. Galloway clearly does both those things. But the English are a funny bunch; no matter what has been done, they tend not to like to see one after their liberal heart of hearts—one of their finest sons—dragged away in irons. Too much of a crackdown could backfire. The much-ballyhooed political instincts of PM Blair will be put to the test.

Real Clear Politics has today linked to a wonderful Guardian piece by Nick Cohen called “ I Still Fight Oppression.” It is the tale of one man’s move rightward post the terrorist bombings to an embrace of what can only be called neoconservatism and the response to this move by his liberal cohorts. He explains well how he believes the multiculturalists on the left have become unwitting “fellow travelers” with fascist extremists.

He writes, “[W]hen confronted with a movement of contemporary imperialism – Islamism wants an empire from the Philippines to Gibraltar – and which is tyrannical, homophobic, misogynist, racist and homicidal to boot, [the left] feel it is valid because it is against Western culture. It expresses its feelings in a regrettably brutal manner perhaps, but that can’t hide its authenticity… [But] if my emails are a guide, the London bombs have added a practical reason for breaking with the consensus: now they’re trying to kill us.”

He is an extraordinarily robust specimen of the species.
