A Study in Kossacks – Er, Contrasts
From the comments section of the Daily Kos. My fisking will be in bold:
Cindy Sheehan: her son dies for his country in Iraq.
Karl Rove: architect of the strategy that sent Sheehan’s son to die in Iraq.
Cindy Sheehan, of course, famously said that her son died for Israel and not America. Karl Rove, you may recall, is the architect of Bush’s political campaigns, but this is the first I’ve heard of his leading role in the Iraq War strategy. Anyway, wasn’t that the Je- excuse me, the neocons?
Cindy Sheehan: supports the troops and honors them for their sacrifices.
Karl Rove: opposes providing necessary body armor for the troops, or necessary benefits for the troops, or enough troops to achieve the mission laid out by BushCo.
Of course, anyone but a Kossack or a moron (you mean there’s a difference? Quiet, you…) knows that Karl Rove supports our troops. If anyone, anywhere, can find a statement where Karl Rove (who has exactly zero influence over Don Rumsfeld, I would imagine) opposed body armor, troop benefits, or adequate troop levels, please mail it to: UrOuttaUrMind, PO Box Nowheresville, the South Pole.
Cindy Sheehan: leader of a group of people who honor dead soldiers with memorial crosses.
Karl Rove: puppetmaster for a group of people who support destroying memorials honoring dead soldiers.
Well, this is pure third-grade level nonsense here; Karl Rove is now the puppetmaster of everyone who isn’t a Leftist? Like anyone supports that stupid act of vandalism to begin with…
Cindy Sheehan: exercising her all-American right to protest government policy and seek redress for her grievance.
Karl Rove: exposed the identity of an American undercover agent at a time of war, endangering anyone she may have had contact with, and possibly (if not probably) damaging actual (read: “not made-up”) operations involving WMD issues.
This is still up for grabs, maybe, maybe not…I totally agree with the top sentiment, though.
So wait, I’m confused…which is the hero and which committed treason?
Oh, yes, indeed, you are confused…no one (at least not me) is accusing Sheehan of treason, but I sure wouldn’t call her a hero, either…
UPDATE 08/18/05 7:19 p.m. central: Welcome, oh Jawaheads, to my humble abode…

And is anyone calling Rove a hero? Hmm, I haven’t seen it but I’ll get the ball rolling… certainly not in the sense that our fighting folks are heroic but kind of like when Bugs Bunny is dressed up like a Happy Days harlot and cozying up to Elmer Fudd, Karl is,
“My Hero”
Ha, ha…you know, one thing about that Bugs Bunny…he’s cool under pressure…why, Elmer Fudd could be cooking him in a kettle, and he would be humming and singing (I’ve seen it with my own eyes)…that was one together rabbit…
