Red Cross Calls For 40,000 Volunteers
Thankfully, it appears that the death toll from Katrina will be far lower than originally anticipated, but that’s small comfort to the survivors. If you’ve got the volunteer spirit, the Red Cross is calling for 40,000 of you; that’s bodies to go with the over $500 million donated to the Hurricane Katrina Relief fund.
With so many charities, some worthy, some not, one reason I like the Red Cross for situations like this is bang for the buck; less than 10 cents on the dollar go to overhead, the rest directly where it’s needed. This public service announcement is brought to you by Decision ‘08.
Now, on a far less important, but quite imminent note: Go Longhorns! Beat those Buckeyes!…
