More On The Hitchens Victory Stomp
Clearly, the prevailing sentiment is that Hitchens made a much better show of things than Galloway in the Grapple in the Apple. Here’s more from another attendee, Judith of Kesher Talk, who says:
…[E]veryone in our group was surprised and pleased at how many Hitchens supporters were in the audience. We estimated the division as about 60-40 in favor of Galloway. The cheers and applause for Hitch when he scored points was loud and long.
Plenty of good links, too, to other debate-related posts…
Meanwhile, two other people who liveblogged the debate, and frankly seem to have done a better job of it than me, were Patrick Belton of OxBlog, and Ace of Ace of Spades HQ.

The irony is that so many came to see and hear two citizens of the UK debate American Foreign and Domestic Policy. I guess that’s why I like Rudy for ’08 – the guy is extremely eloquent and thinks on his feet, a quality sorely lacking in most of our camera – ready politicos.
Can you imagine any of our current crop of congressmen actually participating in the weekly Prime Minister/Parliament debates? Jeez, they’d make dullards like John Major look positively Lincolnesque.
I’m a big Bush supporter…on principle. From a conservative standpoint, there are lots of handles for criticism of GWB, but in comparison to the alternatives offered by the Dems, he’s a godsend.
Having said that, I find myself increasingly frustrated by his lack of public speaking skills. For a thinking person, it matters not a whit; but for the critical mass of people he needs to reach it does matter. Witness John Roberts’ or Tony Blair’s ability to speak, not in complete sentences, but complete paragraphs. If GWB had that ability, it would be lights out.
In addition, and to echo Mark, I’m not sure if his speech writers are at the top of their game.
Thanks for the link! I also wrote about Galloway and Katrina.
