From a conservative standpoint, there are lots of handles for criticism of GWB, but in comparison to the alternatives offered by the Dems, he's a godsend. Having said that, I find myself increasingly frustrated by his lack of public speaking skills. For a thinking person, it matters not a whit; but for the critical mass of people he needs to reach it <i>does</i> matter. Witness John Roberts' or Tony Blair's ability to speak, not in complete sentences, but complete <i>paragraphs</i>. If GWB had that ability, it would be lights out. In addition, and to echo Mark, I'm not sure if his speech writers are at the top of their game. I’m a big Bush supporter…on principle. I guess that's why I like Rudy for '08 - the guy is extremely eloquent and thinks on his feet, a quality sorely lacking in most of our camera - ready politicos. Can you imagine any of our current crop of congressmen actually participating in the weekly Prime Minister/Parliament debates? Jeez, they'd make dullards like John Major look positively Lincolnesque.
