Big Day on the Gridiron

I thought my hometown Longhorns might be headed to #1, with #1 USC trailing 21-3 at the half, but the Trojans mounted a mighty comeback to stave off Arizona State 38-28. Meanwhile, #15 Alabama shocked the SEC with a win over the highly ranked and previously undefeated Florida Gators.

All of which is a ruse to mask my real purpose of posting – congrats to my #16 Texas Tech Red Raiders, as my alma mater goes 4-0, 1-0 in conference after defeating the formerly unbeaten Kansas Jayhawks 30-17. Go Red Raiders!…

i’ll bet you’re deadly with a single tortilla.

  • Oh, yeah, you don’t even want to know…

Not quite shocked the SEC, Mark. Florida had no defense last year and they didn’t do anything to improve it in the offseason. Meanwhile, Brodie Croyle is a very good quarterback when his knee isn’t torn up, and Tyrone Prothro is a very good receiver when his leg isn’t broken. Add to that equation 81,000 drunk rednecks in Bryant-Denny Stadium and Bammer 31, Florida 3 pops out without too much imagination. What shocked the SEC was Vanderbilt losing. :-)

  • Well, okay, shocked me, then…
