Bush The Incohorent Knocks One Out of the Park
From all accounts, President Bush gave a wonderful speech today on the War on Terror. I have not had the time to listen to or read it all, but the transcript is here, if you’re interested (the same page has a link to the video)…

New speech writer/editor.
William McGurn.

While the pundits are talking qualifications in regards to Miers, I must ask David Frum if he thinks his ‘Axis of Evil’ was his biggest hit. I always wondered how much was Bush and how much it was the speech written for him.
It is interesting to note the dissatisfaction the former speechwriters have taken their pens to, in dismantling Bush’s sc pick.
Noonan-Reagan, Ingraham-Reagan, Frum- Bush 43. Frum has really taken the lead on the Miers assault, but one of the biggest problem Bush has had, especially in his first term, was in his speeches. They weren’t written ‘for’ him. Sorry David, and those that followed.
Seems Bush has made an error with his previous selection of ‘speechwriter’. Problem may have been fixed.
Good speech, good visuals, everything good.
You know, he tends to do this when the chips are down.
Yeah, but on the pessimist side, who really saw it besides us political junkies?…Oh, well, I look forward to watching it tonight…
Frum wanted it to be “Axis of Hatred,” which
(a) Sounds better on a purely phonic level
(b) Avoids the easy alliteration
(c) lends itself less to mockery
(d) avoids the cardinal sin of recognizing/identifying ‘evil,’ instead pointing the figure at something (the ONLY thing, actually) that progressives will admit is wrong.
But I guess that’s why Frum is the pointy-head writer, and Bush is the President.
If you want to be nauseated, go to wonkette and read their line-by-line mockery of the speech.
A new low?
Modest correction. Michael Gerson is being given credit for the speech, per Fred Barnes. McGurn still edited and put the thing together though, (I think).
