Yet Again, All Praise To The Masters

Just watched the U2 Vertigo Live DVD, released today and shot May 9-10 at the United Center in Chicago. Wow…it was an experience seeing in person at Houston, and remains an experience on DVD. I’m struck once again at how remarkably exciting, spacious, and optimistic U2′s music and message are, and I’m not ashamed to say that the moment when Bono pulled a small boy up on stage during Into the Heart and sat down next to him brought tears to my eyes (“Into the heart…heart of a child…”). Bonus points for asking the boy’s name, then saying “My name’s Paul, but I call myself Bono”. Great show, great direction by Hamish Hamilton, who also directed the Elevation DVD from Boston, and a great keepsake of a show that has already grown into one of my favorite nights…
