Informed Speculation

…and on December 15th, we’ll face the final curtain on the 2005 Weblog Awards. As such, it’s time to look at some of the big dog categories, starting tonight with Best Liberal Blog. Our favorite whipping boy Kos is not present here, as you can only be nominated in one category, and he’s up for the biggest of all (more on that on Thursday). So let’s look at the Liberal Blogs. The nominees are:

Now a lot of people are impressed with Matthew Yglesias…and Wonkette can be pretty funny (and awfully childish). The worst blog in this category, without question, is Juan Cole’s Informed Comment. Cole is not only wrong on almost every major issue he covers, he’s also very deceitful (read about his lame attempt to cover up an absolutely stunning display of stupidity here).

So, with the admission that I’m definitely the wrong person to weigh in on this category, give it to TalkLeft. The MinuteMan has had high praise for some of founder Jeralyn Merritt’s PlameGate work, and that’s good enough for me…
