It’s a perfect example of Kerry’s “triangulation” policy. The three corners being his words, common-sense and whatever is politically expedient at this moment. Unfortunately, for him, that’s a losing position in a Democracy.

I particularly like the defense offered by Kerry’s spokesman: 1) It was a joke, so don’t take it so seriously, and 2) Bush seriously deserves impeachment anyway.

Here’s another thing that struck me about this comment–when he realized he had said something imflamatory, instead of saying, “You know I’m joking because we are after all at war and we’re all Americans together” or some such thing that would actually make him look better, he takes the craven way out and asks people not to tell. Which of course they do–and these are his loyal “alums?”

Oh, he’s running, but I don’t think he’ll get very far.

Here’s my prediction:

Kerry is done as a presidential candidate. We will start hearing more and more little inside stories from Dems about his weird/inappropriate comments. and quirky behavior.

The Clintonistas need to clear the path for HRC, and once Dems turn on one of their own — as they did on Dukakis and now will on Kerry — there will be no rebound.
