It’s Not Just Al Gore…
…who is kowtowing to the progressive Left. In a blatantly shameless and artlessly executed comment that makes one wonder if she is ready for the 2008 race, Hillary Clinton said the GOP congress is run ‘like a plantation’ in front of a predominently black audience on MLK Day. Not only is the comment absurd, tasteless, and pandering in the extreme, I’m quite baffled as to what it even means…
Why is it that politicians feel the need to change their message, tone, and even words when they speak to black crowds? Isn’t this condescending and borderline racist? I challenge anyone, anywhere to show me a case before or since where Hillary uses the word ‘plantation’ when referring to the U.S. Congress…

Hillary Clinton Tubman Lets Loose on Congressional Plantation. ‘Wade in the Water’ Hill.
What a nutcase. Apparently Hillary is now equating the troubles of house Democrats, with that of early American slaves!? Hillary had been playing the moderate role for some time now, even being hawkish on the war, but over the past…
Hillary Plays The Race Card
Compares Republican House to a “plantation”….and you know what she means, she said:
Sen. Hillary Clinton, who had launched into an impassioned attack on the Bush administration.
“We have a culture of corruption, we have cronyism we have in…
My plantation knowledge is a bit limited. Does anyone know how exactly a plantation is run? I don’t understand her comment.
And don’t forget Ray Nagin’s charming statements yesterday. Do these people ever listen to themselves?
Nagin was starting to sound a little bit like Pat Robertson. Was good for a chuckle.

Hillary! has always had a problem with public speaking – kind of a tin ear, so to speak. Much as she tries to tack to the center in preface for her candidacy, she always goes back to her core beliefs when the occasion arises.
[...] There has been much comment on Hillary Clinton’s remarks during a celebration of Martin Luther King Day at the Canann Baptist Church of Christ in Harlem, comparing Congress to a plantation: “When you look at the way the House of Representatives has been run, it has been run like a plantation,” she said. “And you know what I’m talking about. It has been run in a way so that nobody with a contrary point of view has had a chance to present legislation, to make an argument.” According to The Politicker, “The audience loved it, as did the press corps clustered in back.” Gothamist took it lightly: “Well, of course, that’s the way the Republicans like to run things – it helps them forward their agenda!”Republicans, especially the Congressional GOP, reacted with fury, righteousness and maybe some glee. “It’s always wrong to play the race card for political gain by using a loaded word like plantation,” said Long Island Congressman Peter King. Republican National Committee spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt said: “On a day when Americans are focused on the legacy of Martin Luther King, Hillary Clinton is focused on the legacy of Hillary Clinton.” Urban Elephants was harsher: “Yes, we know what you’re saying Hillary. You’re drumming up anti-Republican sentiment by calling them slaveowners. You’re joining Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson as race hustlers.” The Daily News devoted an entire article quoting experts as to whether she made a blunderBloggers nationwide chipped in.Decision 2008 (Because It’s Never Too Early) wrote: “Not only is the comment absurd, tasteless, and pandering in the extreme, I’m quite baffled as to what it even means…Why is it that politicians feel the need to change their message, tone, and even words when they speak to black crowds? It is politically correct for a democrat to be racist. Once you understand that, the racist inanities from democratic politicians that would normally doom a republican to hell become understandable.
This is why the media pimps ignore democratic racism – because they believe (truly believe) that it is perfectly normal, reasonable and “inoffensive” to minorities.

[...] …and I was wrong on this one. At the end of this post slamming Hillary Clinton for her racially divisive, idiotic ‘plantation’ comment yesterday, I made the following challenge: I challenge anyone, anywhere to show me a case before or since where Hillary uses the word ‘plantation’ when referring to the U.S. Congress… Well, I’m answering my own challenge…I found just such a reference in this article in Newsday: Clinton failed to make a ripple three months ago when she made similar statements on CNN comparing the GOP leadership to plantation owners. “They’re running the House of Representatives like a fiefdom with [former Majority Leader] Tom Delay as, you know, in charge of the plantation,” she said during a Nov. 18, 2004 interview. The same article if full of disappointing facts; Newt Gingrinch made his own stupid statement along these lines: In October 1994, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, who engineered the GOP takeover of the House, used the plantation analogy to describe Democrats, who then controlled the lower chamber. [...]
[...] Am I guilty of a double standard when I complain about Hillary’s usage of the word ‘plantation’ when describing the Republican congress before a predominantly black audience, followed by her little ‘wink, wink’ comment? Perhaps…Here’s what I said on November 21st, 2004: Bush increased his percentage of the black vote despite the scare tactics of the left for two reasons: (1) the shared conservative values of black churchgoers and Republicans, and (2) disgust with the Democratic Party’s plantation mentality.
