Hillary Loses the Molly Ivins Vote

Yep, you read that headline right…the powerful force that is Molly Ivins won’t support Hillary for President:

I’d like to make it clear to the people who run the Democratic Party that I will not support Hillary Clinton for president.

Enough. Enough triangulation, calculation and equivocation. Enough clever straddling, enough not offending anyone This is not a Dick Morris election. Sen. Clinton is apparently incapable of taking a clear stand on the war in Iraq, and that alone is enough to disqualify her.

The people that run the Democratic Party? Why, Molly, isn’t that the voters?…

Leaving aside for the moment the fact that the lack of an endorsement from Molly Ivins is in itself a pretty powerful endorsement, we’ve been over this ground before. Hillary Clinton, as I understand it, has a very clear position on Iraq. She supports seeing it through, and even die-hard Republicans such as myself have to give her no small degree of credit for it.

Ivins is typical of that certain breed of all-knowing liberal we all know, the one that is absolutely positive that if only the full facts were known, her position would be the only conclusion that could be drawn. It’s not that Hillary has no position, it’s that she doesn’t have the right one.

Our good friend AJ is even less impressed than I am…

    I think I’m seeing a pattern here….

“The President has no plan to win the War in Iraq” actually means “We don’t like the President’s plan”.

“Hillary Clinton has no position on the War in Iraq” actualy means “We don’t agree with Clinton’s position”.

    Brilliant stuff, that.
