Alito Passed Out of Committee On Party-Line Vote
As expected, recommended 10-6 (actually, the vote may be still ongoing – wow, these blowhard senators can yak! In any event, it will be party-line, 10-8, not 10-6 as I incorrectly stated). For a good summation, see the Campaign for the Supreme Court blog at the Washington Post…

Remind me again why we had to delay this thing not just from last week, but from last year. If they had held this vote back in December on the first day of hearings, the outcome would have been the same. Yeah, I know the Democrats had to grill and eviscerate Alito in public to establish some sort of cover for their vote…too bad they couldn’t make any of their lame accusations stick.
Let’s see, the ABA gave Judge Alito its highest rating, bipartisan (and diverse) colleagues sang his praises, and equally diverse and bipartisan employees had nothing but good things to say about him. Yeah, that sounds like grounds for a totally partisan vote. I guess the Democrats have completely given up on the concept of personal integrity if it conflicts with party loyalty.
