Last year I live-blogged the Academy Awards, and I’ll probably do the same this year – there’s something fascinating about watching the train wreck of modern celebrity culture at its peak. Here’s a little post for that large segment of my audience that can best be described as gossip maven/gambling addict (you know who I’m talking about).
Let’s take a look at the TradeSports charts for the two most likely ‘Best Picture’ candidates. The word on the street is that Brokeback Mountain, the odds-on favorite, is experiencing a bit of a backlash, and that Crash may take it all. Do the traders agree? Well, yes and no, as we shall see.
Crash is indeed making a run:
…but Brokeback has a – well – mountainous lead:
The smart money? Stay away from this one…Brokeback will probably win, but who knows? For a real sure thing, go with Phillip Seymour Hoffman for Best Actor:
That’s if, of course, you were inclined to gamble, and that’s something you should NEVER, EVER do…(did I mention I’m going back to Vegas at the end of April?)…
