Markos and Krempasky Go Toe-To-Toe

The lovely Mary Katharine Ham is in my fair city, and she has an report on the SXSW Interactive panel that had Markos Moulitsas Zuniga and Mike Krempasky on it. It’s an entertaining conversation, and though I skewer Markos quite regularly, I must say I’m jealous that Mary Katharine finds him good-looking in person. The best bit:

On the possibility of impeachment:

Krempasky: “I highly encourage you to pursue that course of action.”

Markos: “Mike saw how that worked for Republicans. It was an absolute disaster for them. Some people can push that, but I won’t be pushing it because I see the history…And, do we really want Dick Cheney to be President? I mean, that’s what happens if we’re successful. I’ll take George Bush over Dick Cheney. It’s not a good choice, but that’s what elections are for. We lost the last one and we have another one in two years and that’s what we need to focus on.”

I’ll give Markos credit, for once – he continually reminds the more rabid anti-Bush folks that he did, after all, win the election…

Yeah, one cheer for Markos on that score. Maybe 1.2. I’m sure he suffers for that meager bit of sanity among his peers. The Hewitt piece has a complaint from an attendee that he finds himself far to the left of Kos as he did believe that Bush had an active hand in the 9-11 attacks but that view, apparently, is verboten on Kos. So, another cheer for Markos but the very fact that such a position is grounds for gleeful approbation is damned sad, no?

  • Sadly, megapotamus, that view is not unheard of here in Austin – the idiots at the Thundercloud Subs down the street from where I work have a ’9/11=controlled demolition’ sticker on the fridge – makes me want to run behind the counter and tear it off and slap it across their slacker foreheads every time I see it…

  • Hey, Mark! I didn’t know you were in Austin. I can’t believe you didn’t e-mail me. We could have gotten a beer. Bummer. I need to be better about putting the word out about where I’m going, so I can meet up with blogger friends wherever I go. Also, I’d much rather get a beer with you than Kos, so no need to be jealous. I’m just sorry I missed you!

  • Take that, Kos! …jeez, I feel like a dummy now. Honestly, I figured your plate was full…but hey, next time, right? How was the trip? I need to check Hugh’s site for updates…
