Novak: Gore Playing The Nutroots® Tune

Robert Novak reveals Al Gore’s strategy to recapture the president; become the next Howard Dean:

…Party operatives believe former Vice President Gore can outdo Clinton through unconventional fund-raising on the Internet. By campaigning left of Clinton, Gore appeals to ardent anti-war Democrats. Gore’s first presidential run in 1988 positioned him as the centrist candidate, to the right of eventual nominee Michael Dukakis.

This is the big idea Gore brings to the table? Been there, done that – in more ways than one…

  • Well, it’s better to have somebody who campaigns to the Left but is actually a centrist, than somebody who campaigns to the middle but is actually a Leftist.

Though he’s never held office, Bob Novak is to the Right what Jimmy Carter is to the Dems: an out-of-touch dinosaur whose random spewing of crazy-isms makes you want to pat his head and make sure he’s taking his meds and not getting too much sun. He should just keep his mouth shut and his fingers crossed that he’s not subpoenaed in the Scooter Libby trial…
