Informed Speculation

After a great tournament that I, among others, had hyped as perhaps the best ever, this has been a really poor National Semifinals. I can understand Florida’s big win over George Mason, a gutsy team who had perhaps advanced as far as could be hoped. LSU, however, is getting absolutely murdered by North Carolina UCLA, and this is a team that beat Texas and Duke to get here, so we know they’re capable of more – maybe they weren’t prepared well, maybe they don’t match up well, but it’s no contest. It’s been a good season, and there is no shame, I suppose, in having an off game, but for the fan, it’s disastrous when neither game is really competitive.

Let’s hope the final between North Carolina UCLA (what was I thinking?) and Florida Monday night redeems this poor Final Four Saturday…
