The Kerry Withdrawal Proposal: Down In Flames, And Rightly So
When it comes time to put up or shut up, once again we see a Democratic Party more than happy to snipe at the President’s policies in Iraq for partisan gain, but far too cowardly to vote their conscience (and that’s giving them the benefit of the doubt – either they’re lying when they say they oppose the war, or they’re too afraid of political backlash to vote the way they feel – you can’t have both).
Six Democratic senators did vote to pull troops out by year’s end, however, and we should salute their honesty even as we condemn their shortsightedness:
The six “no” votes were cast by Senators Kerry and Edward M. Kennedy, also of Massachusetts; Russell D. Feingold of Wisconsin, Barbara Boxer of California, Tom Harkin of Iowa and Robery C. Byrd of West Virginia, all Democrats.
Here’s a classic ‘what liberal media?’ moment, too:
Before the debate on the resolution began, Democrats complained about the terms of the resolution, which barred amendments. This will force them to vote on Republican-crafted language that could be used to depict them as unpatriotic if they vote no.
What did the proposal say? Roughly this:
…[O]nly those forces essential to completing the mission of “standing up” the Iraqi security forces [would] remain in the country in 2007.
A lack of guts, pure and simple; if you believe it, vote it, don’t weasel out by accusing the Republicans of calling you ‘unpatriotic’..

Can you spot the Anti-War Senator?
Well, the end of the year deadline to pull out US troops is no longer viable. The Senate voted to table an amendment to the Defense Appropriation to bring them home 93-6 (which would imply a certain amount of support of our troops and their mission, n…
You’ve created a false dilemma: there are more positions than back Bush or demand troops be out by the end of the year.
I’ve created nothing – it’s John Kerry’s proposal to bring all the troops home in 2006, not mine…
Re: The Situation
Bad men have come into our village and killed our women and children. Since the begining of time the response to this situation has been debated.
Some say go kill some of the bandit chiefs, and break up their organization. Others say be still, be nice, and they will go away.
Neither solution is perfect, but being a teritorial mammal, I vote for developing a powerful military and killing lots of bandits. While this proceedure is not perfect, I note that most every human who walks the earth in freedom today does so at the cost of USA blood and treasure…I like that thought.
