The Chomsky ‘Plan’ For Iran

I must have taken a stupid pill this morning, because I actually had hopes that Noam Chomsky was going to write a substantive article about how to deal with the Iranian nuclear threat based on the headline. Unfortunately, I got this ridiculous nonsense, instead.

Chomsky begins by rehearsing all the terrible mistakes and bad faith moves the U.S. has inflicted on the innocent, pure, peace-loving Islamic extremists over the last few decades:

Iranians are surely not as willing as the west to discard history to the rubbish heap. They know that the United States, along with its allies, has been tormenting Iranians for more than 50 years, ever since a US-UK military coup overthrew the parliamentary government and installed the Shah, who ruled with an iron hand until a popular uprising expelled him in 1979.

The Reagan administration then supported Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Iran, providing him with military and other aid that helped him slaughter hundreds of thousands of Iranians (along with Iraqi Kurds). Then came President Clinton’s harsh sanctions, followed by Bush’s threats to attack Iran – themselves a serious breach of the UN charter.

Anti-American? Nahhh, it’s just your imagination. What of Chomsky’s ‘plan’?

There are ways to mitigate and probably end these crises. The first is to call off the very credible US and Israeli threats that virtually urge Iran to develop nuclear weapons as a deterrent.

A second step would be to join the rest of the world in accepting a verifiable Fissban treaty, as well as ElBaradei’s proposal, or something similar.

A third step would be to live up to article six of the NPT, which obligates the nuclear states to take “good-faith” efforts to eliminate nuclear weapons, a binding legal obligation, as the world court determined. None of the nuclear states has lived up to that obligation, but the United States is far in the lead in violating it.

Only in Chomsky’s world can the Iranian president, a notorious anti-Semite and Holocaust denier, threaten to remove Israel from the map with the strong hint that he would gladly nuke them, and Israel then be accused of provocation. The second step refers to the abdication of U.S. sovereignty to the UN, by giving up its nuclear fuel processing and placing it under international control. The third step would be unilateral American disarming of its nuclear stockpile, as we can be sure that our enemies will not submit to UN verification. Just look at the recent refusal of Iran, something Chomsky seems loath to do.

However, considering the source, this is sadly par for the course. Seldom has a reputation as an ‘intellectual’ been more poorly deserved…

Notice, too, how he completely glosses over that inconvenient part about Iran extremists seizing the American Embassy and holding Americans hostage for more than a year. I guess in Chomskyland, we made them do that too…

Ahmadinejad is even one of the “students” of the Carter era kidnapping at the US embassy, how much greater an insult, nation to nation, could be conceived? Oh, that’s a bunch of claptrap, no? The mullahs say it’s not the same guy and so does he, I hear the Lefty gnostics complain. Well, look at some photos of then and now and make your own conclusion. There are few things the human mind excels at greater than facial recognition so draw your own judgement. Google awaits.
The Zionist provocation consists, of course, of the Jews having the temerity to draw breath within the heart of the umma. Depending on who one asks though, the umma may have borders along the old Ottoman Empire, certainly expansionist enough, or more generally, the true borders of the caliphate span from one side of the Prime Meridian to the other. The long way ’round. That Chomsky is taken seriously by the persistently unserious should be no shock. The Nation is a disgrace to the nation; ever has been and ever shall be.

  • AHHHHH!!!!!

For the last time!!! Iran is never going to use nuclear weapons against Israel!!!! (OR ANYONE ELSE)

  • Hokie, you know, I’m not saying they will – but their rhetoric points in that direction.

You may find it inconceivable, but I’m sure that people in 1922 would have never guessed that in twenty years the systematic murder of 6 million Jews would happen in civilized Europe…

Neither of us knows the future…but Chomsky’s take is ridiculously one-sided against America, per usual…

  • rhetoric is rhetoric is rhetoric. I don’t even believe the president actually means what he saying, he is just doing it for fun or to gain some political goal that I haven’t hypothesized yet

Genius, Hokie. Of course Hitler never intended to invade Poland either but hey, when he mentioned it and no one seriously objected…

  • Hitler wasn’t denying history and this guy is. I find it hard to believe that anyone intelligent enough to become the president of a country really believes the things he says. Also, there is a big difference in mentioning and then invading poland, and mentioning and using nuclear weapons. One of these actions results in the destruction of both sides resulting in gain for neither.

“For the last time!!! Iran is never going to use nuclear weapons against Israel!!!!”

Hokie knows this because of the THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of research articles that have been perused and of course linked on this site (I can’t seem to recall when all of these thousands of documents were allegedly provided so expeditiously, but no matter).

Hokie has received a degree in International Relations from John Hopkins, and has also received doctorates from both Harvard and Oxford, not to mention winning the Nobel Peace Prize and single – handedly winning the World Cup for Uruguay in 1950 (it was a header from a corner kick, which has also been well – documented here at LEAST A THOUSAND TIMES).

“…he is just doing it for fun or to gain some political goal that I haven’t hypothesized yet…”

When Hokie is not perusing thousands of research articles on the state of the world, she splits atoms WITH HER MIND!
