Come on Mark. That wasn't a fair comparison.

Back in ye olde dayf, some called called Revere & friends insurgents. If Paul Revere had been caught by the coalition forces, he sure wouldn't have to worry about Gitmo...

Afterall, the public had a right to know. Would John Q public appreciate knowing what the light signals meant. Of course for the Tories, it would signal where to send their welcome committee.

And besides, it's not like the young greye ladye told them anything new. The Redcoats already knew the rebels had an asymetrically extensive & innovative network, they just didn't know the details.

I thot I was going somewhere with this....
Oh yeah, thanks for the laugh and have a happy 4th of July. ;)

But did you notice that the moral of the story was that cooperating with the
government over national security issues only resulted in the Post being beaten to the story by NBC? We are talking about potential life-and-death issues, and all they seem to be interested in is whose going to be able to score some points at their next cocktail party.

Good piece here that outlines Katherine Graham's lamenting her paper's disclosure of our cracking of the terrorist's code during the 1980's - resulting in 241 deaths of Marines in the bombing of the Beirut barracks. Wonder why this obvious parallel is not being disseminated more widely during this story:
