Another Country, A Similar Struggle

As our Independence Day begins to fade, let’s not forget the brave Americans and Iraqis fighting for the future of Iraq.  Sgt. Tim Boggs has part one of an interview with an Iraqi general that I highly recommend for some insight into our brothers in arms here

Amen to that, Mark. I wonder what date would be appropriate for Iraqi Independence Day? Certainly we have already seen it as future progress, as important as it is, can hardly be seen as the turning point. More like either the collapse of the Iraqi army or perhaps the transfer of sovereignty. Seems to me that was June 20 something ‘04. I got tired of waiting for them to adopt a new flag so I’ve bought one that still says “Allahu Ahkbar!” but not in Saddams paw-scratchings. Is there a Mid-Eastern snake that could grace a “Don’t Tread On Me” type banner for the Iraqis? Ben Franklin was a big supporter of the snake theme at least during the Revolution. The rattler is distinctly American and, as is well known, never strikes without warning. It might be pleasant to add, she never strikes without KILLING but that is of course not true. You may well wish you were dead from that single bite but for a grown man it is unlikely. Are there cobras in Iraq? Maybe a scorpion. An asp…. Too Egyptian. Hmmm.
