Sanctions Against North Korea?

Everyone is reporting the breaking news that the UN has adopted a resolution condeming North Korea’s nuclear and missile provocations, but only the BBC is using the word ‘sanctions’. No details yet to confirm one way or the other…

UPDATE 3:19 p.m.: Apparently the sanctions are quite mild and only deal with an embargo on missile technology:

The document demands that North Korea suspend its ballistic missile program and includes sanctions requiring all member states to block Pyongyang from receiving or selling missile technology.

So… the NK regime can’t import what it’s already not allowed to have anyway? wow. As someone who thought that taking this up with the UN was a complete waste of time, my face sure is red.

I guess we could say the North Korean economy dodged a bullet with this ruling! Just imagine the economic impact if the UN had targeted something really important, like counterfeiting $100 greenbacks or drug trafficking.
