Blogola? Hynes-ola? Another Mini-Scandal
Patrick Hynes becomes the latest blogger to have a minor scandal erupt over his undisclosed affiliation with a campaign; in this case, he’s working for McCain. Jim Geraghty has the details.
For the record: I am not affiliated with any campaign or political organization or political party. I am a member of Pajamas Media, and I prominently display that affiliation (and I’m proud to do so). I have never been paid by a campaign or candidate or party. I sincerely doubt that I will ever even be offered such an arrangement, and I don’t know what I would do if I was (it would probably depend on the candidate, of course).
However, I can tell you this much; if I ever become a paid consultant, employee, pollster, blogger, researcher, or anything else associated with any political entity, I’ll not only tell you at the first opportunity, but I’ll prominently display it, probably near the top of the blog. Full disclosure; that’s the best policy…

Admit it, you’re just fishing for a gig with Huckabee.
Well, I was thinking more Lieberman (I gotta get the guy to switch parties)…

Just for the record, Kos and Armstrong prominently disclosed their affiliations right on the top of their blogs when they were hired as consultants. Hynes not only didn’t do that, but he criticized Kos and touted McCain. All without any disclosure. His case is infinitely worse than the unsubstantiated allegations lobbed at Kos and Armstrong.
Well, I’m not sure what unsubstantiated allegations you’re referring to with Armstrong – I’m aware that Kos disclosed his association with Howard Dean, though I’m not sure with the prominence you claim. In any event, Hynes is taking a drubbing, and in this case, rightly so…
Kos only posted his affiliation with Dean after word leaked out of Dean’s offices – profile in transparency he ain’t.
