9th Planet Destroyed!
After a tumultuous week of clashing over the essence of the cosmos, the International Astronomical Union stripped Pluto of the planetary status it has held since its discovery in 1930.
No word yet on whether the object ‘Markville’ will be allowed to take its place…
OK, I can see why Pluto would be stripped of its planetary designation under this new definition, but Shuoldn’t “Xena” simply replace Pluto as the 9th planet? After all, it doesn’t share its orbit with Pluto or Pluto’s twin, and its almost twice the Pluto.
Xena is, along with Pluto, officially a ‘dwarf planet’ now – though she prefers to be called a little person…
If Pluto has been demoted because it doesn’t meet the new definition of a planet, in that it hasn’t cleared its neighborhood of all debris, shouldn’t Neptune also be demoted? If Pluto hasn’t clear the lanes of Neptune, then in turn Neptune hasn’t cleared its lane of Pluto? Seem about right to me.
Pluto should not be stripped of its title of being a planet just because It doesent meet the standards! People keep trying to change history these days and its getting quite annoying. Pluto was a planet before many of us were born and I think it should stay that way.
