So, are you gonna back that up with any sourcing, Dmac, or am I just to assume you're slurring the Speaker-to-be?

What else would you expect from a person who married someone for his money, posed for years as the perfect wife in a perfect marriage, then had no idea when he turned out having a strong preference for others of his sex? She's always been a bad Zsa Zsa Gabor imitation - completely clueless.

But Gingrinch announced his preference and then stood aside...Pelosi actively lobbied and tried to use the iron fist...but yes, it will blow ever...the troubling thing is that it seems to set a precedent in combination with Hastings...

I don't know what Arianna is talking about, but I do think this whole think is way overblown and will be forgotten by next week. In 1994, Tom Delay ran for majority whip against Gingrich's hand-picked choice. Delay won. It didn't spell doom for Gingrich's speakership. Everyone forgot about it almost immediately. Same thing will happen here.

Because that’s what real leaders do, they take stands. They listen to their hearts and follow their gut.
Now I'm confused. How come when President Bush does this, he's a dunderhead fascist bent on imposing his will? Ah, Washington is a confusing place...

I love the "this was still a big win for her" rhetoric. Maybe some of these folks have gotten so used to celebrating moral victories that even when they get a real political victory, they don't know what to do with it, so they cast about for the more familiar moral version. It's so much more satisfying to lose and be smug than to win and feel the pressure of actually having to do something.
