Pelosi Talks The Talk…
…but will she walk the walk? In a piece proclaiming that ending the war is her highest legislative priority (not winning, mind you, but ending – well, that easy, pull out all the troops tomorrow, and it ends – for Americans, and for now only – thank God for the Senate, and for Joe Lieberman), Pelosi tacks this on to the end:
The new Democratic Congress will live up to the highest ethical standard, beginning with the first 100 legislative hours when we start to change the way business is done in Washington. We are prepared to lead and ready to govern. We will honor the trust of the American people; we will not disappoint.
See, I want to believe you, Madam Speaker, I really do…but you went to bat for John ‘Abscam’ Murtha and I just don’t believe you. Prove it…by putting aside your dislike for Jane Harman, and appointing her over impeached ex-Judge Alcee Hastings. It’s that simple…because if you appoint Hastings, I won’t believe another word you say about ethics, and neither will anyone else with a shred of credibility…
