DeLay: Hillary Will Be Next President

And the Hammer thinks he knows who the Vice President will be, too:

Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said today that Sen. Hillary Clinton (D.-N.Y.) would be elected president in 2008 and would probably tap Senate colleague Barack Obama (D.-Ill.) as her running mate.DeLay met with conservative bloggers at a weekly lunch meeting hosted by HUMAN EVENTS and the Heritage Foundation. He is making the rounds in Washington to promote his new blog and activism website, TomDeLay.com.DeLay said he was motivated to start the blog and create the Grassroots Action and Information Network after observing the success of liberal organizations such as MoveOn.org, the Media Fund and Americans Coming Together. He said he hopes to utilize some of the same tools to help Republicans win elections.

It’s this liberal coalition, working in concert with the news media, that will propel Clinton to the White House in 2008, DeLay said. “Hillary will be the next president of the United States because they have built a coalition,” he said.

DeLay also implored conservatives to start digging into Obama’s past. He said Obama’s record in the Illinois Senate was on par with a “Marxist leftist.”

Yes, well…ahem…perhaps it’s best that we not dwell too long on DeLay’s predictions, if they are on par with his advice.  Conservatives WILL NOT get back into power by ‘going negative’; we’ve got to offer something positive.  That’s why Rudy G. would make a great candidate; his personal appeal and the respect most Americans have for him would elevate the campaign several notches above the kind of mud-slinging DeLay is so ignorantly suggesting…

My gut tells me this (perhaps it was the late afternoon pepperoni and the two – hefty – glasses of Rosemount 2004 Shiraz with dinner):

Obama: there is no (or not enough) there there.
Giuliani: not conservative enough to get the GOP nomination.
McCain: too old and too much all things to all people.
Romney: the Mormon thing is too much to carry the national vote.
    Kucinich: hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Gore: if he runs, no way, he wants an Oscar.
    Kerry: see Kucinich.
    Everyone Else: not national caliber.

    Net/Net: Hillary wins.

And the Congress reverts to GOP control.

I completely agree with everything outlined and assumed it was just the cheap espresso talking. I now will seek something stronger as I imagine the future as DeLay and too many steves predict. Is it too pathetic to hope for Duncan Hunter to do something…anything?

  • Andy

Well, Hunter will have to start getting some visibility and pounding the circuit
