The Decision ’08 Help Desk Is Open
Regular readers know that from time to time my geeky side comes out and I post little tips for people who might be doing Google searches for computer problems.
Here’s a new one:
You’ve got a Linksys or other router for your internet connection so that you can, say, use your Xbox Live account without sacrificing your ability to be online on your computer.
The only problem? The damn thing keeps saying “a network cable is unplugged” and knocking you off.
There are a number of reasons why this might be, but here’s the one that was getting me: eMule. That’s right, if you’re using eMule for filesharing, you can fool around all day long with the network adapter, the router, etc., but you won’t fix the problem
The solution: you have to turn off the Kad network in eMule. Yep, that’s all…problem solved.
You’re welcome…

Xbox live? Would you happen to play Halo 2?
I don’t have Halo 2…I just got the Xbox 360 for Christmas, and I don’t even have the gold membership yet where you can actually play opponents – so all I can do now is download themes and pictures and little stuff like that…soon, I’ll get the full package, but I wanted to get it up and running first…
I do have the first Halo, however, on the original Xbox – and with the hard drive (which I purchased), you can, of course, play most of the original Xbox games on the 360…
Yeah, the retrocompatable games are mostly pretty cruddy ones, like Aquaman. I got a 360 for Christmas as well. I think you can get a free month of gold membership, too.
Anyway, if you ever pick up Halo 2 on Live, let me know. My gamertag is Menachem Begin.
