Public opinion is notoriously fickle, which makes it nearly impossible to anticipate and assuage. The proper course for the US and our government is to continue to do what we believe is in our best interest - Europe should do the same. If our policies and actions can be structured in such as way as to entice Europeans to like us more, well, fine, that would be a happy coincidence. A large chunk of that hostility stems from that green headed monster - penis envy. They are sick and tired of seeing capitalist pigs getting richer and richer while they have to settle for lesser comforts and standards of living at a higher price in their socialist utopia.
