Bush Administration Hyping Anti-Chimp Intelligence?
I suspect George W. Bush, perhaps angered by the use of the appellation “Chimpy” by progressive bloggers, is behind this:
Chimpanzees living in the West African savannah have been observed fashioning deadly spears from sticks and using the hand-crafted tools to hunt small mammals — the first routine production of deadly weapons ever observed in animals other than humans.
Formber ambassador Joseph Wilson held a news conference today, where he revealed a ‘chimp fact-finding mission’ to the savannah had hit a dead end. “There’s no evidence – none – that Saddam Hussein tried to obtain deadly spears from these chimps”. Wilson freely admitted, however, that there was a post-dated check from Kim Jong-Il on conspicous display.
“When you see a chimp endorsing a check, that’s not something you’ll soon forget, so yeah, I took a peak at the signature line,” said Wilson. Italian intelligence has since thrown cold water on the provenance of the check, though, saying there’s little evidence that Kim’s scientists have such an advanced spear program.
Obviously, we’ll have more on this story as warranted…
