It is a pretty big deal, especially since it expressly points out that the right to bear arms is not contingent on being a member of the militia.

Yeah, the law practically banning the owning of handguns outright has done a bang-up job of keeping guns out of the hands of young people already. (Rolls eyes.)
I don’t have much of a problem with registration laws, or making felons ineligible to buy guns. But the bad guys have shown little difficulty getting guns anyway. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say law-abiding people should be free to arm themselves legally.
