I’m Plum Out Of Ideas At The Moment…

…(or is that plumb out of ideas? Either way looks wrong)…though I do know how the latest Harry Potter ends (the big secret is…well, hell, who cares?). There’s a Democratic debate tomorrow (yawn) that promises to be even more excruciating than normal because it has ‘real people’ asking questions submitted through YouTube (am I the only one who sees a train wreck approaching?). The rule of thumb is, the more ‘real people’ are allowed to frame questions, the more disjointed and pandering the debates become.

So take a break from politics for a minute with me, and revel in the story of the restaurant that grosses $55.2 million a year…or don’t take a break from politics, but revel in the story of the paranoid libertarian who would be king…or better yet, pay our old friends Mickey Kaus and the MinuteMan a visit (but that crack I made earlier regarding the Harry Potter book has an answer: the MinuteMan cares, that’s who!)…

I would make that paranoid libertarian king in a heartbeat.

As for Tao, I’ve eaten there. My wife and I stay at the Venetian in Vegas and therefore we had to try it. While the food was good–though certainly not out-of-this-world good–the attitude of the staff really put me off. We had reservations for a specific time and our table wasn’t ready for nearly an hour later. I know that sometimes this happens but their attitude was like I should be sooo honored to be at their place that I shouldn’t even mind having to wait. PLEASE!! Also, the music was pumping so loud that I could hardly enjoy my food. It was fun to people watch, but it was just overall too trendy for my taste. I have to confess that I felt like an old square there–and I’m only 40!

Anyway, Mark, keep up your great writing/blogging. I enjoy checking in.

Why not a duao partisan ticket in 08?

Is it a grand illusion to suggest that a Republican President have a Democratic Vice?

How many of you out there would vote for a John McCain / Joe Lieberman ticket?

Maybe these two need to start an independent campaign?

    I can’t think of a better ticket!!!

    You opinion?

The YouTube debate irks me because it seems so condescending. There seems to be an air of “Oooh, you should all be happy, because we’re going to let you commoners speak.”

My biggest fear is it’ll be a collection of cranks, so the Beltway types can snerk and go back to ignoring anything beyond the Potomac.

I like what the teaser for the Opinion Journal’s Political Diary says about the YouTube debate: it will confront the Democrats with their Nutroots(R) base. I’m not a paid subscriber so I can’t read the rest, but watching people (half of whom are whackos themselves) pander to whackos should be quite amusing.

spoiler: Harry dies, then he comes back to life. Sorta like E.T., or Jesus, I guess.
